Why Haiti, and what now?

In the wake of the disaster at Haiti on January 12 questions are naturally posed why this earthquake happened, why it could not be predicted and why it became so disastrous. Can it happen again and if so, where, what is being done and what can be done to prevent such disasters in the future? These questions will be briefly addressed in the following. Read more.

Disaster in Haiti: An appeal to the Norwegian authorities!

Haiti is one of the world's poorest countries. The terrible images of earthquake disaster on January 12 touch all, and show how the most resource-poor once again are affected. There is no doubt that massive international assistance is needed and will be given to Haiti for a long time. But earthquakes will happen again. Unless Haiti next time, then somewhere else. In other words: we know that new disasters are waiting in the future. Read more (in Norwegian).
